Get involved, make a difference!

Have a passion for architecture or history?

Heritage tourism is an exciting way to promote the preservation of historic buildings. Histoury’s tours directly impact the communities that are featured, protecting their heritage through education and advocacy.

Many aspects of research, planning, interpretation, and marketing go into creating successful tours. Our internships and volunteer opportunities are great ways that you can apply your skills, strengthen them, and learn new ones along the way.

Do you love connecting with the public?

If you have a talent for inspiring audiences or simply enjoy working as part of a team during events, Histoury tours are unique ways for you showcase your skills as a tour guide or volunteer.

Our historic preservation internship program offers students or recent grads the chance to develop their skills and learn new ones, great for those that want to pursue historic preservation, architectural history, or history disciplines, including cultural heritage tourism.

These interns participate in a variety of projects that include researching historic buildings, analyzing cultural heritage landscapes, interpreting information for tour scripts, coordinating planning efforts, and creating multimedia and marketing material.

Our interns work remotely and at a flexible schedule. The length of the internship is four months. A minimum of ten hours per week is required. The ability to perform occasional field research (both local and distance interns) is also preferred.

If you cannot meet these requirements but are highly-motivated to participate, you may contact us to discuss your details. If interns are applying for school credit that has specific/differing requirements, Histoury will be happy to explore making other arrangements.

To apply, email your cover letter and resume—or send your inquiries—to Allison Casazza at [email protected]

Volunteer for our tours, or, as we like to say, voluntour! If you live in or near any of our tour communities, we’d love the contribution of your talents as we work to promote your local history.

Our voluntours make a difference in a variety of ways. They find important and fascinating details about the buildings, people, and events in their community that enrich our tours. They drum up support through on-the-ground promotional and marketing efforts. On the day of the tour, they provide customer service and support the many logistical details that go into creating a great experience for the guests.

Represent your community, contribute your skills and talents, be a part of a team that’s preserving your local heritage!

If you would like to get involved (in one or more of the ways described, or a different way!), please contact Allison Casazza at [email protected] or call 646-490-8790.
