Thank you to the homeowners and Ardsley Historical Society for making this tour so interesting and fun!
A while back, when we discovered some of the works of architect Roy S. Johnson, we knew we had to include his talent on our tours…this tour of the Twenty-One Acres enclave in Ardsley was the perfect opportunity to do just that. Along with other architects like Stanely Torkelsen, he co-founded the Twenty-One Acres Cooperative in 1948. The group of designers purchased a 21-acre parcel in the town and within a few years their neighborhood of 13 midcentury modern homes was realized.
Our tour focused on many of the original homes that are still standing in the neighborhood (sadly, some have been demolished) with special stops to step inside three of them, including a home that has been in the same family for over 70 years!
