North Shore Colonial 2026 Tour
Enjoy some highlights from our North Shore colonial homes tour. On this tour, we stepped inside four private colonial homes: First stop: Barker Family home. Earliest deeded home in North Andover - 1688! Home to man accused in Salem witch trials. Second stop: Jenkins Family home. A stagecoach stop that welcomed many travelers for respite and was also an entertaining hot-spot with its one-time ballroom. Third stop: Holt and Cogswell Families home. Its owner (Cogswell) was a slave-owner, thankfully the home is reported to later serve on the Underground Railroad. Fourth stop: Osgood Family home. Birthplace of America's first Postmaster General, appointed by George Washington! Other interesting notes: we saw homes connected to Andover's one-time booming publishing business, the home of Uncle Tom's Cabin author Harriet Beecher Stowe, and the home where America - My Country Tis of Thee was written.
